Grief is such a timeless thing. It’s an agonising pain that rips your body apart time and time again, feelings of what ifs, what should be and what was.
Life changes, it moves forward. Because it has to. You can sit still and spend painful hours living in those moments but ultimately you have to carry on.
And as you do, you make new memories, meet new people and your life does continue.
But it never takes away the grief. The grief continues to live deep inside of you, and for the most part you do carry on, it’s there but it’s okay. It walks alongside you in day to day life but it doesn’t quite reach the surface.
Until it does.
And when it does? When that anniversary looms, when a certain song or smell triggers a memory? That’s the agonising heart breaking pain. A pain unimaginable to so many yet common at the same time.
Every so often it catches you out, your eyes fill and your heart physically hurts. It’s overwhelming. It takes over, it doesn’t care where you are or who your with, suddenly your right back there, broken again.
Grief is timeless. Grief is pain. Grief walks your journey with you.
